ASSESSMENT

Assessment is an important component of information literacy instruction. Successful assessment accurately measures the degree of student learning and determines how well the goals and objectives of the lesson were met. Gathering and using this information allows the instructor to better tailor instruction that meets student needs and improves performance.

Quantitative assessment objectively measures student learning based on normative (large-scale population 'norms') or criterion-referenced (situtation specific). Qualitative assesments are more subjective and are measured using rubrics, and other artifacts of student learning.

Collected here are some links to online resources, a bibliography of suggested reading, tips on how to include a successful assessment activity into a S.O.S. lesson. and examples of lessons with successful assessments.
